There are so many reasons to read more poetry!
At JAG F Press, we are proud to say that we create beautiful, religious poems that can encourage and fulfill you. Poetry is truly an incredible thing, and it is so much more than just words on a page. Unfortunately, in this day and age, poetry is a much smaller part of people’s lives than it used to be, but reading poetry comes with so many wonderful benefits, and many of them may even surprise you! The following is a list of just a few of the many reasons to start reading more poetry:
#1. Poetry can help you see the world in a whole new way.
When you feel like you are stuck in a rut, reading poetry is a great way to open your mind and help you view life from a new perspective. Wherever you’re at in life, poetry can shed light on your situation and help you overcome life’s biggest obstacles.
#2. Poetry can help to improve your vocabulary.
There’s a very good reason why many teachers include poetry in their curriculums, and that is because it’s a great tool for improving vocabulary. Poetry will acquaint you with new phrases and words, and it’ll help you build your verbal analysis skill.
#3. Poetry will help to keep your brain sharp.
The brain acts like a muscle, and just like any other muscle in your body, you need to consistently use and challenge your brain to keep it sharp. Reading poetry is a wonderful way to challenge your brain because it encourages critical thinking.
#4. Poetry provides insight and encouragement.
Life isn’t always easy, and all of us have our own obstacles to overcome. Sometimes, those obstacles can seem like they are just too big to conquer, but with poetry, you’ll gain the insight and encouragement you need to move past them. Additionally, reading about the trials others face will show you that you are not alone!
#5. Poetry promotes empathy.
Sometimes, the world can seem like a devastatingly hateful place, but poetry helps to promote empathy. It’s so important to put yourself in someone else’s shoes from time to time, and poetry can help you do that!
